I have a degree in physics, am a member of the UK Institute of Physics and a chartered physicist. I'm a member of the UK Society of Indexers.
During a long career in aerospace and defence I've been part of many extremely complex and difficult projects ranging through sonar, infrared systems, electronic warfare and radar. Roles have included trials engineer, systems engineer, programme manager, cost engineer, systems manager.
I've written many technical specifications and reports, normally in collaboration with other team members. Some of the later documents include
airborne (AESA) radar specifications and equipment descriptions. These were created using a mix of IBM Doors and Microsoft Word.
Sky Shadow user guide for the Tornado Aircraft (Leonardo). The Word embedded index was used during air force training and operations.
Many computer models for system definition and trials analysis, financial modelling and cost analysis.
With IOP REMS I've organised a one day video recorded conferences on 3D Printing and another, in-person conference on Physics in Unusual Places. With SI I helped organise the London conference.
